Philips is bringing together additional wearable and biosensor tech partners to complement the Cuviva Hospital at Home platform.
August 10, 2026
By: Michael Barbella
Swedish Hospital at Home platform provider Cuviva today announced an expanded global cooperation with Royal Philips to advance transitional care solutions that connect patients and clinicians across the full care journey—from hospital admission through recovery at home. The collaboration builds on the milestone earlier this year when Cuviva and Philips were jointly selected to support Hospital at Home services at Karolinska University Hospital and Region Stockholm, and extends that foundation to support healthcare providers globally.
Health systems worldwide are under sustained pressure from workforce shortages, rising chronic disease burden and aging populations, while patients increasingly expect care to be delivered closer to—or in—the home. Philips has described this shift as moving from episodic, spot-check monitoring toward continuous, longitudinal visibility of the patient across care settings. Cuviva shares that view: Safely scaling Hospital at Home and transitional care requires more than individual devices or isolated data streams. It requires continuous visibility into patient status, early detection of deterioration, structured care pathways, and interoperable monitoring technologies that work seamlessly together.
Since its founding, Cuviva has built its platform around open standards and vendor-neutral integration rather than closed, proprietary technology. Using HL7 FHIR and openEHR as its data backbone, the Cuviva platform is designed to aggregate, structure, and contextualize data from multiple validated monitoring sources—including in-patient monitoring, wearables, and hospital IT systems—into one coordinated framework, without locking health systems into a single vendor’s hardware or software.
That philosophy extends naturally to the expanded Philips cooperation. Cuviva is pleased to combine its Hospital at Home platform with Philips’ patient monitoring portfolio and a growing set of best-in-class wearable and biosensor technologies, giving health systems the freedom to choose the devices that best fit their clinical needs while keeping data structured, connected, and actionable within Cuviva’s care pathways.
Cuviva delivers a cloud-based Hospital at Home and Remote Patient Monitoring platform certified as a Class IIa medical device under the EU MDR—one of the first such platforms in Europe—and built to ISO 27001, ISO 13485, and IEC 62304 standards. Beyond regulatory compliance, Cuviva is designed to give healthcare organizations control over where and the ways in which their data resides, offering a secure, sovereign cloud infrastructure that lets health systems scale monitoring across large patient populations without ceding control or governance of sensitive patient data.
As part of the expanding global cooperation, Philips is bringing together additional wearable and biosensor technology partners alongside Cuviva to complement the open Cuviva Hospital at Home platform:
Cuviva already maintains a strong partnership with smartQare and welcomes the broader collaboration landscape. Bringing multiple best-in-class monitoring technologies into one structured digital care framework lets health systems enhance patient visibility while keeping clinical control, data governance and operational scalability firmly in their own hands.
“The Karolinska University Hospital and Region Stockholm contract award earlier this year marked an important milestone in our collaboration with Philips,” Cuviva CEO Henrik Cederqvist said. “Expanding that cooperation into global transitional care is a natural next step. We firmly believe that healthcare providers should retain full control and governance over their patient data and their technology choices— not be locked into a single vendor’s ecosystem. By combining Philips’ in-hospital monitoring leadership with a network of best-in-class wearable innovators, on top of our platform built on open standards and secure, sovereign cloud infrastructure, we enable health systems to maintain data stewardship while delivering coordinated, connected care from hospital to home without compromise.”
Cuviva claims to have the broadest, deepest, and most used Hospital@Home and remote patient monitoring platform in Northern Europe. The platform is called the Cuviva RPM Platform and is MDR class IIa-certified. The Platform is certified and validated by the notified body British Standards Institution (BSI) based on patient safety, clinically proven efficacy, and technical documentation.
